Comunidad

This word is used for many purposes but we know it mainly to mean a local' community of proprietors' (owners of property). When you buy real estate you will be introduced into a comunidad. Commonly used roads and for instance a swimming pool or gardens need to be maintained, the expenses made this way will be paid by the owners into a comunidad regardless of whether you make use of those facilities or not.

There's no way of getting out of this. Always check first to see if there's a comunidad involved and what this will cost you, if you have to contribute on a monthly basis or if there's a fund in place to provide for such things. It could be that you have to buy your way in, it's annoying to find out later that you are required to put several thousand euros into a comunidad fund.

Alway check with a lawyer first and find out what the statutes and regulations imply.
